Privacy Policy

Draft policy — have this reviewed by a qualified lawyer before launch. This was drafted as a genuine, PIPEDA-aligned starting point ([Company Name] below is still a placeholder for the registered legal entity, once one exists — the brand name "Breezan" is confirmed), not a substitute for legal review — especially once payments (Stripe Connect) and additional provinces are involved.
This Privacy Policy explains how [Company Name] ("we", "us") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information through the Breezan mobile application and website (together, the "Service"), in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy law.
Information we collect
- Account information: name, phone number, email address, and role (customer or provider).
- Address & location: your home or business address (collected via address autocomplete), and — for providers — a service-area origin point. If you enable location features, we may also collect device GPS coordinates to confirm job-site presence.
- Job & quote information: job descriptions, requirements, quotes, negotiation messages, and chat history between customers and providers.
- Photos: before/after and survey photos uploaded during a job, including embedded location (EXIF/capture-time GPS) and a server-side timestamp, used to verify the work was performed at the stated location and time.
- Verification documents: for providers, business license and insurance documents submitted for admin review.
- Payment information: if billing is enabled in your market, payment details are collected and processed by our payment processor — we do not store full card numbers ourselves.
- Device & usage information: push-notification tokens, app usage, and log data for security and troubleshooting.
How we use your information
We use personal information to: operate the matching system that connects customers and providers; enable quoting, negotiation, and in-app chat; verify provider licensing/insurance; investigate disputes (including reviewing retained photos and negotiation history); send service notifications; and improve and secure the Service.
Photo retention
Photos are never deleted once a job is completed. They remain active and visible for 24 months (used, for example, as a price/condition reference for repeat jobs), then move to archived cold storage — hidden from normal views but retained for dispute-resolution purposes, with access-logged admin restoration available if needed.
Who we share information with
- The other party to a job (customer ↔ provider) sees the information necessary to complete that job — name, job-site address, quote/negotiation history, and photos.
- Service providers we rely on: cloud hosting and storage, push notification delivery, mapping and address lookup, weather verification services, and — where billing is enabled — our payment processor.
- Legal & safety: where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.
- We do not sell personal information.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA, you can request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccuracies, and withdraw consent for optional uses (though this may limit what you can do on the Service — matching, for example, requires an address). Contact us through our Contact page to make a request.
Data retention
We retain account and job information for as long as your account is active and as needed to resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and maintain accurate service history. Photos follow the retention schedule described above.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal information, including access controls on administrative tools and encrypted connections between the app and our servers. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province of residence.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves — for example, when expanding beyond British Columbia or enabling payments. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
